6 weeks out

I'm about 6 weeks out from beginning my journey.

I will be running the southern 2/3s of Route 66, starting in Tulsa and finishing on the western tip, Santa Monica, California on or around November 9th.

This will be a shorter version of my planned 2016 trip from Chicago to Santa Monica. While it's not the full Route 66 circuit, the trip will still entail over 3,200 miles and around 60 hours of road time (including stops to see friends in southern California).

My planning has started in earnest, and I've begun picking out my list of places to stop. The top few places the first two days include; the Vickery Phillips 66 Station in Tulsa and the Y Service Station & Café in Clinton, OK.

Lucille's Roadhouse in Weatherford, OK.

This will cover my 1st day and a half and about 600 miles. Off to an aggressive start, but weather permitting, that's the plan.

I will be leaving cursory posts the next few weeks, with minor updates. Once I'm on the road, I'll be posting updates and photos each day. Feel free to drop a comment or email if anything is of interest or if you have recommendations.
